Can I visit a mosque if I am not Muslim?

Most mosques welcome respectful visitors. Contact the mosque before attending when possible and ask for someone to welcome you.

What is the shahadah?

The shahadah is the declaration of faith. A trusted mosque or knowledgeable Muslim can explain it and support you without pressure.

Do I have to change my name?

Usually, becoming Muslim does not require changing your name. Ask a trusted scholar if you are unsure.

Do I have to know Arabic?

No. Muslims come from every language and background. Arabic for prayer and Qur’an can be learned gradually.

What if I cannot pray properly yet?

Learn in manageable stages and ask someone patient to show you. Mistakes while learning should not stop you.

What if my family or friends react badly?

Think carefully about safety, housing, finances and wellbeing. Seek support from trustworthy people.

Do I have to tell everyone immediately?

No. Personal circumstances differ. Consider safety and seek reliable guidance.

Islam teaches hope, repentance and Allah’s mercy. You are not beyond forgiveness.

What if I feel out of place at the mosque?

That experience is more common than people realise. Contact us or ask the mosque for a named person to welcome you.

How quickly should I learn everything?

Focus on core beliefs, prayer, supportive company and reliable learning. Consistency is better than overload.

Where should I get answers about Islamic rulings?

Use trustworthy local scholars and established learning sources for complex questions.
